Abstract

This article aims to question several matters related to the teaching of architecture, more specifically the teaching of architectural design from an interdisciplinary perspective. It investigates the relationship between teaching and research in universities, the relationship between architecture programs and other university degrees, and the pressures related to the training of architects for the market. Based on the answers to these questions, it attempts to present a few proposals for and ways of understanding the teaching and learning practices in architecture degree programs, in order to propose education that is capable of relating to the demands of contemporary times.

Professor Adjunto do Departamento de Projetos – PRJ - da Escola de Arquitetura da UFMG - desde 1996, onde atua na Graduação e na Pós-Graduação stricto sensu; Líder do Grupo de Pesquisa sobre Ensino de Projeto de Arquitetura - GPEA, junto ao Conselho Nacional de Pesquisa – CNPq; Membro do Conselho de Curadores da Universidade Federal de Minas Gerais; Membro do Conselho Deliberativo do Patrimônio Cultural do Município de Belo Horizonte; Membro do Conselho Estadual de Patrimônio Cultural do Estado de Minas Gerais.
