The architectural office Joaquim Guedes & Associates and, in particular, Guedes himself developed projects on various scales, ranging from furniture and residences to institutional buildings and even cities. The city of São Paulo is home to many of his well-known works, especially residences, as well as lesser-known projects and works. The collection donated by the architect Joaquim Guedes to FAUUSP in São Paulo contains projects that have not yet been analyzed. These include the residential projects developed by Guedes and Associates, which were consulted and provided essential data and insights, allowing design strategies and distinctive characteristics to be identified. The study examines the construction details in the architectural drawings of houses in São Paulo, emphasizing notable features, particularly building elements such as windows, stairs, fireplaces, and roofs. This paper discusses how the modulation of spaces was achieved based on the dimensions of readily available materials, such as brick, fiber cement tiles, and ceramic tiles, which the architect explored as a rational construction process. The original contribution reveals how the locus of the architect's expertise was in his construction details.
