New south wales: 1830-1900. The golden age of Bíobío Region

In present work the author conducts a research reading of a virtuous period of the economics history of the region. The purpose is to help becoming acquainted with such process and obtaining lessons to guide future development.
The analysis is based on the works by Wagemann, Astorquiza, Amunategui, Hernández, among others. The revision is conducted through focus reading of the key factors driving the peak described.
The period in question shows important spaces for urban expansion, port concentration and regional integration, as a result of an interesting mixture of external demand and internal development. There converged the market opportunities, the action of the State of Chile and the active response of local business man who had a comprehensive vision of the future.
