Although energy poverty is a widely addressed issue, significant knowledge gaps persist regarding how it disproportionately affects women. This study analyses energy vulnerability and the gender dimension from a socio-spatial perspective, using the city of Granada as a case study. The methodology draws on publicly available census-level data to combine energy and gender indicators and examine their prevalence in areas categorized as vulnerable. The findings reveal a relationship between vulnerable areas, low-income levels, and energy-inefficient buildings. Older women living alone, female-led households, and foreign-born women are identified as at-risk groups, all presenting significantly reduced income levels. The study concludes that there is a need to redefine vulnerable areas, promote energy retrofitting, and incorporate a gender perspective to design comprehensive public policies that contribute to a fair energy transition.
