The intensive use of trucks in the open pit mining operations, the costs of operation, and emissions of greenhouse gases generated by the fuel consumption of trucks presented a context for the search for solutions that will guide the use of resources to the reduction of costs, but considering the environment as a variable decision. The objective of this research was the development of a simulation model for the calculation of fuel consumption and the quantification of the emission of CO2 associated with the mining trucks, to achieve the above it was used the methodology that describes 7 activities for the achievement of a successful simulation study. The constructed model incorporates the kinematics and dynamics of the truck, adding, the event behavior as interactions (congestion) with the other teams. The results obtained are highlighted, the quantification of interactions (congestion) in indicators of consumption and emission and the difference in the way of the calculation of CO2 emissions, is currently done with the invoice of the fuel that has been used, on the other hand, the model based its calculation on the energy used to move the truck. For the fleet of trucks used as a
model, the average was 2,5 kg CO2/liter of fuel burned, compared with the 2,69 kg CO2/lt of fuel burned that defines the Intergovernmental Group of Experts on Climate Change. Infer and quantify, as this research proposes, the fuel consumption of trucks in mining operations and their consequences as CO2 emissions, incorporating the behavior before congestion and dynamic variables such as slope, rolling resistance, load, rimpull, among others, allows to analyze the performance of operational solutions, acquiring a detailed view of the behavior of fuel consumption in the operations dynamics, thus having the impact on the environment for each solution in search of cost minimization.
