El Mestizaje en América

El fenómeno racial americano por excelencia es el mestizaje; por añadidura, el fenómeno cultural distintivo de los pueblos americanos es el sincretismo o fusión de sus formas de vida adoptando en América un patrón original. Estas dos vertientes, la biológica y la cultural, constituyen dos expresiones de un mismo proceso: el del encuentro y de amalgama de etnias y razas diferentes en un mismo continente y el de la confluencia y simbiosis de las culturas de aquéllas en formas e integraciones regionales.
