Abstract

The study reviews the drought situation in the Region of Ñuble, examining the meteorological behavior through the collection and analysis of falling water data, arranged by the Chilean Meteorological Office based on 42 stations distributed in the region. Difficulties in accessing data are identified, and the existence of a bias in the stations distribution is evident, mainly associated with favoring the agricultural industry, and not maintaining territorial information to verify the effects of climate change, in this sense it is not possible to make a traceability to falling water in the region since only one station located in the intermediate depression is considered official information for the region. The study performs a qualitative characterization of residents of the localities with the lowest historical rainfall in the region, to verify their perception of drought.
