Abstract

This work deals with military cooperation for the maintenance of Order on the Corumbá border, starting in 2020. With the restriction of movement in the border strip, the fight against smuggling and illegal trade was carried out through the well-known Operation Ágata, of the Ministry of Defense. At the regional level, the municipality of Corumbá fundamentally influences the cross-border multi-territoriality, formed together with Puerto Quijarro and Puerto Suárez (Bolivia). In this area, the action of the Brazilian Army, through the 17th Border Battalion, has relevant socio-spatial impacts, generating a military territoriality. Thus, the objective of this study is to identify the influence of military territoriality, in Corumbá, for the maintenance of Order on the border, starting in 2020. Using the bibliographic review as a research procedure, it is verified that, in Corumbá, military territoriality is the result of military identity in the process of formation of the Brazilian western border, as well as in its evolution and, currently, maintenance of Order. Therefore, the Army collaborates in guaranteeing the territorial justice conquered by the pioneering heroes of the past, from the time of the demarcations and establishment of the limits of the Brazilian territory.
