Abstract

In this document, energy consumption and its contribution to the Value Added in Chile is studied in a sectoral dimensión. Inicially through the input-output approach and using the Alcántara and Padilla (2002) methodology, which consists of a the production/demand elasticity calculation proposed by Pulido and Fontela (1993). A national energy matrix is built, year 2014 to 12 sectors and a chracterization of the productive activities is performed, its correlation between Value Added and energy to three and twelve sectors. Through the elasticity of energy consumption approach, the productive activities are characterized according to their importance in the sectoral energy impact and the implication of the key sectors in Chile’s energy policy.
