Abstract

Adaptive Behavior (AB), is a set of skills and abilities that allows individuals to develop in society. This article aims to inquire about evaluations and support towards the AB, in the national and international context. The narrative review method was used, which purpose is to provide a general picture of findings about the evaluation and support towards the AB. Therefore, databases such as Scopus, Google Scholar, Scielo and Redalyc are used. The results show that there are basic shortcomings on the part of the Ministry of Education, since the exposed evaluations do not measure the conceptual, social and practical skills. One of the three criteria for diagnosing Intellectual Disability is omitted. It is evident that studies focused on supporting AB in the national context are scarce. It is essential to address the AB, both in general education schools and special schools, since it will somehow improve the quality of life of students and their participation in society.
