Educación geográfica para la sustentabilidad

El propósito del presente artículo, es analizar los antecedentes y desafíos que se le presentan a la didáctica de la geográfica a partir de la declaración, por parte de la Unesco, de la década de la educación para la sustentabilidad entre el año 2005 y 2014. Esta es una oportunidad para que la didáctica de la geografía pueda colaborar a edificar una sociedad más solidaria y equitativa en el largo plazo. Una sociedad sustentable, en la cual los jóvenes de hoy, adultos del mañana, tengan suficientes conocimientos, elementos de juicio y actitudes que les permitan tomar decisiones adecuadas con respecto al espacio geográfico y el medio ambiente.
