Abstract

The aim of this article is to generate public awareness in the architectural field regarding sustainability and energy efficiency as applied to housing. It presents an example of social housing that, in addition to all the familiar design variables, also includes aspects of sustainability from the outset of the design process. The case study in question is the "Arauco" house presented at the Segundo concurso arquitectura y eficiencia energética en vivienda social (Second competition for architecture and energy efficiency in social housing), Chile, 2007.
