Abstract

Work commutation is understood as the separation of working and consumption places. It is usually studied as a male phenomenon and/or in relation to local economies. It emerges as a relevant question when asking about the situation in which the women of the Bio Bio Region are to be found: How many women move and where? Which are the economic and working sectors that demand them? The data, analyzed from a theoretical and conceptual framework derived from a gender perspective, offer new questions to better understand the personal, social, cultural and labor factors that condition the probabilities of women moving from one place to another.
