EXPLORING EDUCATIONAL LEADERSHIP FROM ATTACHMENT THEORY: 7 RECOMMENDATIONS TO STRENGTHEN MANAGEMENT WORK
Main Article Content
Abstract
Considering the importance of leadership for educational transformation and the teaching and learning processes, this article proposes a novel and different approach to leadership. Building on the foundational ideas of John Bowlby and Mary Ainsworth regarding attachment theory, we explore the possibilities this theoretical contribution offers to educational leadership. Recognizing that leadership is synonymous with collective change and that the leader must be able to generate the connection that will enable the educational community to move toward a different place, we discuss how the principles of exploration and protection can be applied to everyday school work. We believe that the implementation of leadership systems that gradually consolidate bonding processes characterized by trust is a fundamental process for the development of any educational project. As the title indicates, we propose seven leadership strategies that could be a starting point for strengthening leadership in any school organization.
