Abstract

This paper compares the most internationally important methods of residential building assessment (BREEAM, LEED, VERDE, CASBEE and Qualitel) in order to establish bases for future development. This article is divided into three parts: the first, reviews the emergence and objectives of the methods; the second, presents the methodology used in the study; and the third, analyzes and compares these methods. To conclude, the dimensions and categories the methods address are established, as well as the methodological structure, rating system, and limits of the methods.
