Abstract

It is presented a series of terms and concepts, which from ends of last century have arisen to name the new urban phenomena. It analyzes its origins seeking to know and to explain its meaning, especially for Mexico City and Latin America, establishing the relationships which allow to understand the characteristics and processes that define the current urban phenomenon and the contemporary city.
