Indicators of diversity and socioeconomic integration of citizens in urban spaces of public use

The objective of the present study was to make indicating of diversity and socioeconomic integration to evaluate urban spaces and to promote sustainable solutions to favor the diversity and integration. The index of social diversity (IDS) was constructed from the measurement of the percentage distance of the diff erent present socioeconomic layers in a determined urban space front to the percentage from segregation of the complete city. The created indicators are able to show in a single percentage number this distance and allow comparing urban spaces of diff erent use and scale. The municipal exigency of a minimum standard of social diversity in urban spaces and the possibility of compensating deficit with excessive of other projects, will produce a new real estate business based on urban benefits that foment the social sustainability of means.
