Urban developments and coastal tourist developments
Keywords:
tourist developments, residential projects, coastal spaces, tourist investmentsAbstract
The territorial planning of tourist areas usually follows the same spatial development strategies as territorial or urban spaces. There is a clear parallel between their initial definitions, their conceptual developments and their territorial descriptions. However, it is not clear that this important economic activity has to continue following residential regulations and guidelines, which do not acknowledge its particularities. This article puts forward the necessity for a treatment of tourist peripheries and spaces, based on sustainability as a key issue for maintaining the competitiveness and dynamism of coastal areas.
