The county general plan as a tool for the management of a middle size city Los Angeles
Keywords:
county general plan, county area, state marketAbstract
This article discusses different programmes and projects conceived for the actualisation of the County General Plan of Los Angeles (Chile) that focuses no only on the needs of the urban area of Los Angeles, but also on the whole county area. As a result of this process, the four planning instruments in force at that time – the General Plans of Los Angeles, Millantu, Salto del Laja and San Carlos de Puren – were merged in a single planning framework with 8 independent urban areas in the territory, ruled by a local regulation and common planning criteria.
The starting of this instrument for territorial planning coincides with a stage of great dynamism of the state market, which allowed evaluating the effects of the plan, validating the basic criteria and identifying those aspects that require modifications for the improvement of the instrument.
