Abstract

The economic impacts of the University of Alcalá de Henares are varied and wide in scope; and derive either from the generation of knowledge, research and development (effects from the supply point of view) or from the direct and indirect effects of the flows of expenditure in the local context (effects from the demand point of view).

This article synthesizes the results of a study on the economic impact of the University of Alcalá on the local economy. In other words, it shows the main statistics that illustrate the increment of the local and regional economic activity – in terms of local expenditure and employment generated – attributed to the presence of the University of Alcalá.
