Keywords:
enclosed cities, urban structure, Santiago of ChileAbstract
Recent tendencies on the expansion of Santiago are maked by the development of large real estate projects that are being reproduced under the modality of "enclosed cities". Through the study of the legal framework, regulations and instruments in place giving the necessary basis to realize these interventions and through the analysis of the first projects undertaken. The main issue to be tackled is if recent developments represent only one more expression of the of enclosed cities already built or represent the new cities of the future.
