The Chollín collective: Archetype of the promenade architectural in Chile

Abstract

Within the context of economic recovery in the 1940s in Chile, the coalmining industry tried out new forms of housing. The worn-out model of the industrial city that imposed a housing system reduced to repeated blocks with minimal sanitary installations was replaced by buildings that tested out new architectural ideas. This time the solution was tested on a large scale, incorporating new social objectives.
