Abstract

The learning of English in higher education demands innovative methodologies that surpass traditional teaching methods. This systematic review analyzes the implementation of the Communicative approach between 2021 and 2024, utilizing the PRISMA 2001 methodology in scientific databases: Web of Science, Scopus, and SciELO. The study is based on the search, analysis, grouping, and synthesis of articles where the literature comprehensively indicates how this approach is transforming English teaching, emphasizing the development of authentic and meaningful communicative competencies. The main findings reveal a heterogeneous implementation of the Communicative Approach, with significant variations across geographical and cultural contexts. Research from different regions highlights the effectiveness of strategies such as task-based communicative learning and the simulation of real-life scenarios.
