A mi Panamá
Abstract
Ayer, fuiste gloria de España,
-fueron afamados tiempos-
Hoy, adoquines de historia,
alejados, sin su reino,
pero más gloriosos que los mármoles helénicos
como la majestad del universo.
Hoy me explota el recuerdo en mil detalles
porque tú me llenas de nostalgia
cuando del pecho se desgrana la esperanza
de volver a pisar tus viejas calles.
Tus huellas sagradas en noches calladas,
murmuran frases como plegarias
y no lejos, entre suspiros leves
me trae la brisa plena de tu amor.
¡Rostro de América,
de mi patria un monumento,
eres tú mi Ciudad de Panamá,
mi más querido recuerdo!
