Urban edges of a typical zone: La Serena
Keywords:
urban limits, growth urban, typical areaAbstract
The city of La Serena is undergoing a complex growth crisis. Its inhabitants are doubled every 30 years, leaving its historical centre empty. Will it continue extending with no limits or will it grow "from within" occupying large blocks but empty of people?
This work, which is not the story of a completed action but rather the review of its beginning, checks relevant aspects to be considered in the definition of the Typical Area of the City, starting the analysis from the aspects of the design of the city, transcendent and fundamental, which are initiators of an urban identity that is the repository of a unique architecture that is also sensitive to this underlying structure that lives in the collective memory.
