Impact of the program to strengthen emotional intelligence skills regarding bullying handling at primary school level

Abstract
The present work shows the results of the implementation of a program focused on strengthening emotional intelligence abilities for the management of bullying in students in the eighth grade, aged 13 to 17, from two official educational centers in the Central District. The study has a quasi experimental design (control group: 42 students and experimental group: 29 students) and consisted of three phases: phase 1, the adoption and the application of a questionnaire in the form of 71 questions, 35 associated with bullying and 36 associated with emotional intelligence; phase (2), teachers and educational center personnel were interviewed to classified its perceptions according different roles (victim, aggressor or spectator); and phase (3), to develop five individual mentoring sessions, and one group mentoring session by different actors. Results was confirmed through media differences analysis (pre postest), it was observed that the program produced change and contributed to the reduction of the incidence of social bullying phenomena.
